Moodboard Challenge: Interiors Inspired By Artwork

For this months moodboard challenge, we are focusing on artwork! I was browsing through Pinterest recently, when I came across an art piece that sparked this months Idea.

What Room Do You See, When You Look At Art?

I have often heard people say that a particular artwork set the tone for the whole room. So to put this to the test, I selected three artworks and created moodboards based on what I visualised these rooms would look like.

Each artwork spoke to me differently. It was exciting to start with Art and let that help create the whole room.

Let’s have a look at how I styled each room.

THE ARTWORK

High Spirits by Green Lili

What I Saw

This piece very much fed into my love for monochrome. I felt the bold design should very much be the statement in the room. When I looked at the artwork it made me think of a Modern Sleek Scandi-esque lounge. Minimal styling but bold in furniture selection.

What I Saw

The first word that came to me, when I saw this was Afrocentric. I could see a room filled with colour and pattern.  For me this artwork would be the heart of the room, with everything surrounding drawing from it. I love how it mixes traditional elements but breaks out with expressive brush strokes.

What I Saw

When I looked at this artwork, I saw such peace within the woman’s face. It was like she had finally exhaled and is where she needs to be. For me that place it usually at home in my bedroom. The earthy tones in the portrait, inspired me to look at natural furniture to create a tranquil calming space.

Challenge Complete!

I really enjoyed making these moodboards, it was nice to create schemes with more colour. I did find myself questioning whether my choices were in keeping with the design style. It is easy to create a room that speaks to your aesthetic. But when it doesn’t, you have to dig a little deeper to make sure everything works together.

I would love to hear what room you imagined, when looking at these art pieces. Did your vision match mine?

Hopefully this inspires you to get creative in your home and start bringing your ideas to life. Until the next challenge Stay Blessed!
